Artisan Bakery Expands in Oxfordshire

Blewbury Bread Co, an independent artisan bakery, is planning to open its third Oxfordshire location. The new shop will be in Wallingford's St Peter's Place, expanding the regional presence of the popular bakery known for its breads and pastries.

The new Wallingford shop will be located at 1-2 St Peter's Place, taking over a unit previously occupied by the sandwich shop Soph's Loafs. A proposal has been submitted to the South Oxfordshire District Council for the refurbishment and refitting of the ground floor retail space. Blewbury Bread Co. was founded by baker Jack O'Nolan and opened in May 2020. The business started as a charity initiative during a time of flour shortages, with its initial launch on the May bank holiday seeing orders for 236 croissants and 60 loaves. The bakery's other two locations are The Bread Shed at Savages Garden Centre in Blewbury and a spot at Root One Garden Centre near Didcot. The company's products are also sold at Mr & Mrs Park's Butchers in Cholsey and Brightwell Village Stores. Owner Jack O'Nolan hopes to have the new Wallingford bakery open before the end of March 2026. The new design will feature the company's existing logo and coloring to create the aesthetic of a traditional bakery with a contemporary feel. The bakery prides itself on using high-quality ingredients from local and respected suppliers. Their flour is sourced from Shipton Mill, sausage meat from Mr and Mrs Park's Butchers in Cholsey, and free-range eggs from nearby Beechwood Farm.
