China's Agibot Unveils G2 Humanoid for Manufacturing
Chinese robotics firm Agibot has unveiled its advanced G2 humanoid robot, specifically targeting high-precision industrial automation. The wheeled humanoid features 26 degrees of freedom and is designed for complex tasks like assembly and logistics sorting in variable environments. Its deployment represents a significant step in robots handling tasks previously reserved for skilled humans.
Agibot was co-founded in February 2023 by Peng Zhihui, a well-known tech influencer and former engineer from Huawei's elite "Genius Youth" program. The company has attracted significant investment from major players including Hillhouse, Sequoia China, and automotive giant BYD, quickly reaching "unicorn" status within its founding year. The G2's brain is powered by Agibot's proprietary foundation model, GO-1, which uses a Vision-Language-Latent-Action (VLLA) architecture to translate commands into actions. This runs on a powerful NVIDIA Jetson Thor T5000 offering up to 2,070 TFLOPS of compute, allowing the robot to process data from its dual LiDARs, stereo cameras, and RGBD sensors locally with latency under 10 milliseconds. Each of the G2's 7-DOF arms is equipped with high-precision torque sensors, enabling force control with an accuracy greater than 0.5 N and a payload of 5kg per arm. This allows for delicate tasks, demonstrated by the robot's ability to handle a raw egg without breaking it, a critical capability for complex assembly. The robot is designed for 24/7 operation through a dual hot-swappable battery system. Agibot has already secured significant commercial validation, including a framework order for nearly 1,000 G2 units from electronics manufacturer Longcheer to be deployed in its factories. This deal is part of a larger trend, with Agibot having reportedly shipped over 5,000 robots in 2025, positioning it as a volume leader in the emerging humanoid market. The development of advanced humanoids like the G2 aligns with China's broader strategic goals. The government's "AI+" initiative aims to deeply integrate artificial intelligence across all sectors of the economy, with a particular focus on upgrading manufacturing capabilities and deploying intelligent robots. This national push provides a strong tailwind for companies like Agibot.
