Shooting at Seattle Hookah Lounge

The shooting occurred in the Chinatown-International District, a neighborhood that has seen multiple violent incidents connected to late-night venues. Seattle Police homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigation units have cordoned off the area to process the scene. Seattle Fire Department crews treated the two injured victims before they were transported to Harborview Medical Center, a common destination for trauma patients in the region. In a similar incident in January 2026, two victims were also taken to Harborview in serious condition after a shooting outside the Caravel Hookah Lounge. This event follows a history of gun violence at or near Seattle-area hookah establishments. In August 2023, a shooting at the Rainier Hookah Lounge left three people dead and six wounded. Another fatal shooting inside the Evangadi Hookah Lounge in December 2025 led to second-degree murder charges against a suspect. In response to the ongoing violence, the Seattle City Council passed legislation in 2025 to regulate unlicensed late-night venues. The rules mandate that establishments like hookah lounges must employ trained security, install surveillance cameras, and have a formal safety plan. The city has previously shut down problematic locations. The Evangadi Hookah Lounge was declared a "chronic nuisance" and closed in December 2025 following a homicide, a fatal overdose, assaults, and five violations of the city's after-hours nightlife ordinance. Stray bullets from these incidents have also endangered the surrounding community. During a January 2026 shooting, the ICHS Legacy House assisted living facility across the street from a lounge was struck by gunfire, though no residents were harmed. A local Filipino restaurant, Kilig, also had its windows pierced by four bullets during the same event.
