Lin Yu‑ting cleared

World Boxing has cleared Olympic champion Lin Yu‑ting to compete again after a high‑profile gender eligibility dispute and fresh sex‑testing procedures, closing a major saga for the sport (sportbible.com) (bbc.com).

World Boxing said an appeal filed by the Chinese Taipei federation has been upheld and formally confirmed Lin Yu‑ting is eligible to compete at the Asian Boxing Championships in Mongolia, scheduled 29 March–10 April 2026. (WorldBoxing.org ) World Boxing’s statement reiterates its Sex Eligibility Policy—introduced August 2025—which requires a one‑time PCR test targeting the SRY gene to determine sex for athletes aged 18 and over. (WorldBoxing.org ) The CTBA says it filed an appeal on Lin’s behalf after initial testing in 2025, submitted comprehensive medical documentation, and that World Boxing’s Medical Committee reviewed that evidence before issuing its clearance. (Chinese Taipei Boxing Association PDF ) World Boxing’s letter, quoted in its public statement, records that the Medical Committee “considered and evaluated the medical documentation presented and determined that the boxer was deemed to be female and eligible to compete in the female category,” a determination signed off by Secretary General Tom Dielen. (WorldBoxing.org ) Chinese Taipei’s federation described the decision as “a tremendous relief,” said it has completed Lin’s registration for the Mongolia tournament, and quoted medical reviewers as concluding she has been female since birth. (Chinese Taipei Boxing Association PDF ) Lin did not compete at the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool in September 2025 after the federation said it had submitted test results but received no response from the organiser at that time.
