Philly's Ministry of Awe opening Saturday
Philly's eccentric "Ministry of Awe" opens Saturday in a former bank in Old City, according to @thephillyvoice [https://x.com/i/status/2032210178846699565].
The Ministry of Awe is located in the former Manufacturer's National Bank at 27 N. 3rd Street in Philadelphia's Old City, a 19th-century building that had been mostly vacant since 1985. Meg Saligman, a Philly native, purchased the building with the vision of transforming it into a large-scale art installation. The new museum features six stories of immersive art, with contributions from over 100 local artists. Visitors can expect murals, sculptures, videos, and interactive art installations. The experience is designed to be non-linear, encouraging exploration and discovery. Tickets are $29 for general admission, and the museum is open Tuesday through Sunday. The Ministry of Awe aims to be an "ever-evolving world" with installations and performances changing over time. The museum also incorporates interactive elements, including hidden hallways, ringing phones, and opportunities for visitors to leave their own messages.
