Anthropic ramps enterprise push
Reports say Anthropic’s Claude has rapidly grown enterprise spend—cited at about $8.4 billion over six months—and the company has a Claude-for-Word beta targeted at Microsoft Word Team and Enterprise with legal contract review listed as a first use case. The coverage positions Claude as moving from standalone chat to workflow-native integrations inside productivity tools. ( )
Anthropic is pushing Claude deeper into office software, with a new Word add-in aimed at team accounts and a fast rise in business adoption. (claude.com) Anthropic’s Claude for Word is in beta for Microsoft Word Team and Enterprise users, according to Anthropic’s product page and coverage published April 12. The product edits inside a document, shows changes as native tracked edits, and supports comments, templates, and uploaded source files. (claude.com; thenextweb.com) Anthropic’s own examples put legal work first. One prompt on the Claude for Word page asks, “What did the other side change in section 4,” and The Next Web reported legal contract review as the first listed use case. (claude.com; thenextweb.com) The enterprise backdrop has shifted quickly in 2026. Ramp said in its April 11 AI Index update that 50.4% of businesses on its platform paid for artificial intelligence products in March, up from 35% a year earlier, while Anthropic’s share rose from 24.4% to 30.6% in one month. (ramp.com) OpenAI still led Ramp’s measure in March, but the gap narrowed. Ramp said OpenAI was used by 35.2% of businesses on the platform, leaving Anthropic 4.6 percentage points behind after Anthropic posted its largest monthly gain yet. (ramp.com) A separate enterprise market survey from Menlo Ventures, published July 31, 2025, found model application programming interface spending had climbed to $8.4 billion from $3.5 billion in six months. The same report said Anthropic held 32% of enterprise usage, ahead of OpenAI at 25%. (menlovc.com) That helps explain why Anthropic is moving from a chatbot window to document workflows. Claude for Word keeps the model inside Word, preserves formatting, and lets users accept or reject each edit in Word’s review pane instead of copying text from a separate chat. (claude.com) Anthropic is also packaging repeated tasks into what it calls “skills.” On the product page, the company says teams can save a contract review, status memo, or research brief workflow so other employees can run the same process inside Word. (claude.com) The company is pairing that product push with a broader enterprise buildout. Anthropic said on March 12 that it was investing $100 million in the Claude Partner Network, and its newsroom shows additional enterprise and infrastructure announcements through April 2026. (anthropic.com) For Anthropic, the next test is whether Claude becomes a tool companies open in the same place they already write, review, and negotiate documents. Claude for Word puts that bet directly inside Microsoft Word’s review workflow. (claude.com; ramp.com)
