Steve Wilson Jazz Album Due May

Saxophonist/flutist Steve Wilson is set to release a new project titled *Enduring Sonance* on May 1, 2026. The album is expected to showcase Wilson's signature blend of sophisticated improvisation and melodic invention, promising to be a highlight for jazz fans this spring.

A seasoned and sought-after musician, Steve Wilson has contributed his saxophone and flute playing to over 100 recordings by a wide range of jazz luminaries, including Chick Corea, Dave Holland, Dianne Reeves, and Michael Brecker. He was a member of Chick Corea's Grammy-winning sextet "Origin" from 1998 to 2001 and joined the acclaimed Dave Holland Quintet in 1996. *Enduring Sonance* will be Wilson's first album as a leader in several years, following up on his 2015 release, *Steve Wilson & Wilsonian's Grain: Live in New York: The Vanguard Sessions*. That live album featured a quartet with pianist Orrin Evans, bassist Ugonna Okegwo, and drummer Bill Stewart, and was praised for its explosive and joyous performances of originals and Thelonious Monk covers. Throughout his career as a bandleader, Wilson has released a number of critically noted albums. His 1998 album *Generations* was named one of the top 10 albums of the year by The New York Times. His 2003 release, *Soulful Song*, was a tribute to the diverse and culturally significant Black radio of the 1970s. For *Enduring Sonance*, Wilson has assembled a stellar lineup of musicians. The album will feature pianist Renee Rosnes, who also arranged the music, along with vibraphonist Joe Locke, bassist Jay Anderson, and drummer Kendrick Scott. French horn player Kevin Newton of the Imani Winds will also be featured on two of the tracks. The forthcoming album is a deeply personal project for Wilson, featuring his interpretations of beloved compositions that have influenced him throughout his life. The album will include works by celebrated composers such as Billy Childs, George Cables, Quincy Jones, and Michel Legrand, showcasing a range of styles from contemporary jazz to soulful pop and film music.
