Ras al Khaimah Zipline Extension
Ras al Khaimah launched the world's longest zipline extension at Jebel Jais, now stretching 2.83km. The February 15 event drew 500 attendees to the adventure attraction. RAK Tourism's official announcement generated 4,000 retweets as the emirate continues positioning itself as an adventure tourism destination.
- The Jebel Jais Flight has held the Guinness World Record for the world's longest zipline since its inauguration on January 31, 2018, with a single unbroken span of 2,831.88 meters. - From a launch platform 1,680 meters above sea level, riders travel head-first in a "superman" position and can reach speeds of up to 160 km/h. - The construction was a multi-million dollar project that involved anchoring steel cables weighing more than six tons into the Hajar Mountains. - The ride concludes on a suspended, transparent platform before participants take a shorter, secondary zipline back to the ground. - The attraction is operated by Toroverde, a company that also developed the previous record-holding zipline in Puerto Rico, known as 'The Monster'. - Jebel Jais is home to a larger adventure park which includes the Jais Sky Tour, a series of six connected ziplines, and the Jais Sledder, the region's longest toboggan ride. - The zipline is a central feature of Ras Al Khaimah's long-term tourism strategy, which aims to attract over 3.5 million visitors annually by 2030 by establishing the emirate as a hub for sustainable and adventure tourism.
