A startup called Jointly AI has launched what it claims is the first fully autonomous AI insurance broker. The platform gathers customer needs by phone, instantly shops over 20 insurers for quotes, and then uses generative AI to negotiate, bind, and service the policies from end to end. This signals a shift from AI as a support tool to a fully autonomous agent.
The Jointly AI Broker is specifically designed for UK personal lines brokers. It operates on a subscription basis and is currently in an early access phase with select partner brokers. The platform's goal is to reduce the significant administrative burden on brokers, who can spend up to 60% of their time on non-advisory administrative tasks. The system uses a sequence of five specialized AI agents for its workflow: intake, research, quoting, analysis, and delivery. This multi-agent architecture is coordinated by an enterprise-grade orchestration layer designed for the regulated financial services industry. The process, which traditionally takes hours or even days, can be completed in approximately 35 to 45 minutes. The workflow begins with a 24/7 AI-powered intake agent that gathers the customer's needs in a five-minute phone call, eliminating forms and transfers. A research agent then scans the market and verifies provider credentials against the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) register. The quoting agent can make up to four calls simultaneously to insurers, navigating their automated systems and waiting on hold. For analysis, the platform uses Jointly Insurance Instruct v1, its own proprietary insurance-focused large language model, to normalize quote data and score options based on the customer's priorities. To ensure reliability and compliance, every piece of data is assigned a confidence score; if the score is too low, the system seeks clarification. All actions are logged in real-time for auditability and oversight.
