Milwaukee Chefs Vie for Beard Awards

The James Beard Awards, often called the "Oscars of the food world," were founded in 1990 and given out for the first time in 1991. These awards acknowledge contributions to food justice, sustainability, and ethical practices. The 2026 James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards will be held on June 15 at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Recent trends in Milwaukee include a sushi boom, with new restaurants opening downtown. Despite some restaurant closures, new establishments are anticipated, including fine dining spots.
