Huawei Unveils New AI-Powered Firewalls

At MWC Barcelona 2026, Huawei launched its new flagship HiSecEngine USG6000G series of firewalls. The company is positioning the high-performance gateways as a solution to protect enterprises as they integrate more artificial intelligence into their operations.

The new HiSecEngine USG6000G series is built on dedicated security engines, with the flagship USG6885G model achieving a threat protection performance of 135 Gbps. This is double the performance and 1.5 times the SSL decryption capability of comparable products in the market. The series is designed for environments with heavy traffic and complex services, such as enterprise headquarters. For smaller operations, Huawei's USG6500G series desktop firewalls combine firewall, router, and switch functions, and include support for 5G and Power over Ethernet (PoE). These models are designed for multi-branch scenarios, offering twice the number of interfaces as competing products to simplify network expansion and management. A key feature of the new firewall series is its AI-powered defense, which delivers a 95% detection rate for unknown threats—a figure 15% higher than the industry average. This is achieved through real-time local model inference and advanced security algorithms that can identify and block threats like unknown phishing attacks in milliseconds. This capability is a direct response to the surge in AI-generated phishing campaigns, which are becoming increasingly personalized and difficult to detect. The launch comes as attackers increasingly leverage artificial intelligence to automate and enhance their methods. Security professionals report a significant impact from AI-powered threats, including hyper-personalized phishing, deepfake voice scams used for financial fraud, and AI-driven vulnerability scanning. In 2025, some reports indicated that 87% of organizations had experienced an AI-driven cyberattack. While facing geopolitical pressures and bans in some Western markets, Huawei maintains a strong position in the global network security landscape. The company holds the number one market share for network firewalls in China as of the first three quarters of 2025. This new firewall series represents a continued investment in securing enterprises against a backdrop of rapidly evolving, AI-assisted cyber threats.
