Food Counterfeit Warning Issued
Green Lumber Holding, LLC issued an updated consumer warning about counterfeit products falsely marketed as genuine Green Lumber that may pose health risks. The recall serves as a reminder to purchase food and supplement products from reputable sources. Cindy McCain simultaneously announced her departure as executive director of the UN World Food Programme.
The updated consumer alert for Green Lumber products is an extension of a recall first initiated in August 2025. The counterfeit supplements were found to contain the undeclared prescription drug tadalafil, which is not an ingredient in the authentic product. This substance can pose serious health risks, including life-threateningly low blood pressure, for individuals taking certain medications for heart conditions. An internal investigation by Green Lumber Holding, LLC revealed that a former employee was responsible for misappropriating legitimate packaging and customer information to distribute the counterfeit items. The company has since terminated the employee and is cooperating with the FDA and law enforcement. Consumers can identify the recalled counterfeit product by the lot number LOT308EXP03/28. Cindy McCain is stepping down from her role as the executive director of the UN World Food Programme for health reasons, having suffered a mild stroke in October 2025. She assumed the leadership position in April 2023, navigating the organization through a period of record-level global hunger driven by conflict, climate change, and economic instability. During her tenure, the World Food Programme faced significant challenges, including funding shortages that led to staffing cuts and difficult decisions about aid distribution in critical areas like Gaza and Haiti. The process to replace her will involve a joint appointment by the UN Secretary-General and the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization, in consultation with the WFP's 36-member Executive Board.
