Nike revives Moon Shoe with Jacquemus
The Jacquemus x Nike partnership returns with a pastel reissue of the Moon Shoe, fronted by Solange Knowles announced.
The Moon Shoe's re-release comes in three new colorways: Chocolate Brown, Sail (off-white), and a pale pink that aligns with Jacquemus' signature aesthetic. The pink version is a Jacquemus exclusive. Originally handmade by Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman for the 1972 Olympic Trials, the Moon Shoe was Nike's first sneaker to feature the waffle sole. Jacquemus' version has a low-profile, ruched nylon upper and a Nike Grind outsole made from recycled rubber. The shoes launched on March 9th via Jacquemus, with a wider release of the Chocolate Brown and Sail colorways on Nike SNKRS slated for March 16th. The retail price is $180. Jacquemus found the original Moon Shoe in the Nike archives and saw an opportunity to "write a new story" for the silhouette. The collaboration blends Nike's athletic heritage with Jacquemus' minimalist, ballet-inspired design.
