OpenAI will commit up to $1.5 billion to a new joint venture called DeployCo to speed enterprise adoption of its workplace AI tools. Under the deal OpenAI would make an initial equity investment of $500 million with the option to add as much as $1 billion more, in a funding round that values DeployCo at roughly $10 billion. (techfundingnews.com) Private equity groups expected to back the venture include TPG, Bain Capital, Advent International, Brookfield and Goanna Capital, with the consortium planning roughly $4 billion of commitments alongside OpenAI’s capital. (thenextweb.com) OpenAI is pairing that capital push with a channel and consulting strategy: it named Accenture, Capgemini, CGI, Cognizant, Infosys, PwC and Tata Consultancy Services as launch partners to help deploy its Codex coding and agent tools in client environments. (techcrunch.com) OpenAI says Codex already sees millions of weekly users — TechCrunch reported more than 4 million weekly active users — and the consulting tie-ups aim to convert that developer momentum into enterprise implementations. (techcrunch.com) Reporting on the DeployCo structure says the venture will be used to embed OpenAI’s tools inside private-equity portfolio companies and that some backers negotiated preferred-return mechanics reportedly targeting about 17.5% annually. (capacityglobal.com) Corporate partners already published rollout plans: Cognizant said on April 21 it will embed Codex into its software-engineering group, and Infosys issued a press release on April 22 describing a strategic collaboration to scale enterprise AI with OpenAI. (news.cognizant.com) (infosys.com) Robinhood’s newly listed Robinhood Ventures Fund I closed a roughly $75 million purchase of OpenAI common stock on April 17, giving retail investors indirect exposure as DeployCo’s financing and partner rollout proceed toward a targeted close in early May.
