Makita expands cordless tool lineup
Makita has released new cordless tools in February, including the DBN900ZK staple and nail gun for framing and trim work. The company also launched the XVJ02Z cordless jigsaw, which has been praised for its power and build quality, though some users noted its soft-start feature requires a learning curve. The releases strengthen Makita's position in the professional cordless tool market.
- The DBN900ZK framing nailer uses an air spring mechanism designed to replicate the feel of a pneumatic nailer and can fire up to two 50-90mm nails per second. A single 6.0Ah battery can drive up to 1,000 nails on a full charge. - Both the DBN900ZK nailer and the XVJ02Z jigsaw are part of Makita's 18V LXT system, the world's largest compatible 18V slide-style battery platform with over 350 tools in its lineup as of 2026. - The soft-start feature on the XVJ02Z jigsaw is a "no load speed reduction" function that automatically slows the blade speed before it contacts the material, allowing for more accurate and controlled cut initiations. - The XVJ02Z jigsaw also features a variable six-speed control dial that allows for a range of 800 to 3,500 strokes per minute, enabling the user to match the speed to the specific application and material. - While these tools expand the 18V LXT line, Makita is also simultaneously developing its higher-powered 40V max XGT system for more demanding applications. The XGT line is not backward-compatible with LXT batteries or tools. - In February 2026, Makita also released new tools for the 40V XGT system, including a two-piece combo kit featuring what the company calls its most powerful hammer driver-drill to date. - Other tools slated for release in 2026 include a 40V max XGT 30-degree framing nailer and a new 8.0Ah high-power battery, which will be the most powerful in the 40V max catalog.
