Keragon Launches AI for HIPAA-Compliant Automation
Healthcare automation platform Keragon has launched Keragon AI, a tool that allows clinical and administrative teams to build HIPAA-compliant automations using plain-English commands. The company positions it as the industry's first plain-English automation builder for healthcare operations, designed to transform how administrative and clinical workflows are managed.
- Keragon has raised a total of $10.5 million, following a $7.5 million seed round led by Upfront Ventures that built on an earlier $3 million pre-seed round. Since launching out of stealth in June 2024, the platform has grown to over 100 paying customers and has executed more than 2 million workflow automations. - The platform provides a no-code visual editor and integrates with over 300 healthcare tools and EHRs, including athenahealth, Canvas Medical, and Elation, positioning itself as a HIPAA-compliant alternative to general-purpose automation tools like Zapier. - Specific use cases for the automation platform include syncing patient intake forms directly to an EHR, automating appointment scheduling and reminders to reduce no-shows, verifying insurance eligibility before appointments, and managing patient follow-ups via personalized messages. - For data governance and security, Keragon is SOC 2 Type 2 certified, offers a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) on all paid plans, and enforces a strict 7-day data retention policy. It utilizes AES-256 encryption for data both at-rest and in-transit. - The launch of Keragon's AI tools occurs within a rapidly growing market for Natural Language Processing in healthcare, which was valued at $4.9 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach $37 billion by 2030. - The AI co-pilot assists not only in designing workflows from plain English descriptions but also in troubleshooting and debugging existing automations, aiming to reduce the technical burden on healthcare staff.
