Ginger Fox Bakery Opens in Stratham, NH
A new bakery, Ginger Fox, has opened in Stratham, New Hampshire, at 100 Portsmouth Ave. The new establishment replaces the former Sweet Dreams Bakery. It was created by the team from the Laney & Lu restaurant and aims to provide an "elevated hospitality experience."
The new bakery is the latest venture from Jennifer Desrosiers (also known as Jennifer Wilder), the founder of the Altitude Companies hospitality group. Desrosiers is also the creator of the popular plant-centric restaurant Laney & Lu, now in Portsmouth's West End, and Palette, a catering and gifting company specializing in cheese and charcuterie boards. Desrosiers, who has a background in architectural engineering and previously spent 20 years in the manufacturing industry, transitioned to a career in wellness after a personal health journey. She became a certified holistic health coach and yoga instructor before opening Laney & Lu in Exeter in 2015. Ginger Fox takes over a location with a long history. The previous tenant, Sweet Dreams Bakery, was a community staple for over three decades before its owners, brothers Chris and David Italiano, decided to sell the business. Desrosiers, who was a frequent customer of Sweet Dreams, was inspired to create an artisan bakery after touring the space. The bakery's menu is inspired by European pastry techniques and features items like laminated croissants that take three days to make, "cruffins" (a croissant-muffin hybrid), and brioche cinnamon rolls. Everything is made from scratch, with a focus on mindfully sourced ingredients like organic flours and sugars, and grass-fed organic dairy. Beyond traditional pastries, Ginger Fox offers a savory menu that includes house-made focaccia sandwiches, like their signature breakfast sandwich with chili jam and dijon aioli. The bakery also caters to various dietary needs, providing numerous gluten-friendly, vegan, and plant-based options, such as a cheesecake made from cashews.
