Geraldine Brooks Releases New Memoir

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Geraldine Brooks published 'Memorial Days: A Memoir' on February 4, 2025, available for $28.00. The book offers a personal narrative from one of contemporary literature's most recognized voices.

Before her celebrated career in fiction, Geraldine Brooks was a foreign correspondent for The Wall Street Journal. She spent 11 years reporting on crises from the Middle East, Africa, and the Balkans. Brooks is acclaimed for her historical fiction, winning the Pulitzer Prize in 2006 for her novel *March*. The book reimagines Louisa May Alcott's *Little Women* from the perspective of the family's absent father during the American Civil War. Her other novels also delve into meticulously researched historical settings, from the 17th-century plague in *Year of Wonders* to 19th-century horse racing in her 2022 bestseller, *Horse*. Many of her books, including *People of the Book* and *Caleb's Crossing*, have been *New York Times* bestsellers. *Memorial Days* marks a shift from historical fiction to personal narrative for Brooks. The memoir chronicles her journey through grief following the sudden death of her husband, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Tony Horwitz, in 2019.
