NFL Free Agency Kicks Off
The NFL's free agency is underway: the Bills extended Dawson Knox [https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-free-agency-tracker-2026-full-list-signings-trades-moves/], and the Commanders signed Chig Okonkwo with $76.4M in cap space [https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/47899175/2026-nfl-free-agency-tracker-live-updates-signings-trades-cuts-contracts-rumors].
The Bills' extension with Dawson Knox is reportedly a three-year deal intended to lower his $17 million cap number for the 2026 season. Knox was due $12 million in 2026, including a $1.5 million roster bonus. In 2025, he recorded 36 receptions for 417 yards and four touchdowns. The Commanders are giving Chig Okonkwo a three-year deal for up to $30 million. The Commanders' signing of Okonkwo likely means they will not bring back Zach Ertz. Okonkwo, a former fourth-round pick by the Titans, had 56 catches for 560 yards and two touchdowns in 2025. The NFL salary cap for 2026 is set at a record $301.2 million per team, which is $22 million more than in 2025. The Raiders have the most cap space at $119.4 million. Teams had until March 11 at 4 p.m. ET to get under the salary cap.
