Hyrox catching on
Hyrox — positioned as a non‑CrossFit competitive fitness format — is gaining traction on social feeds and is being predicted to drive gym expansions. (x.com) Multiple posts and shares over the weekend show local gyms and influencers promoting Hyrox events and training, suggesting growing grassroots interest. (x.com)
Hyrox is moving from niche race series to mainstream gym product, with more than 80 races in 2025, 550,000 athletes and 350,000 spectators on its official tally. (hyrox.com) The format is simple enough for gyms to copy in training blocks: competitors run 1 kilometer eight times, with a workout station after each lap, including the SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, rowing and wall balls. Hyrox says that standardized format is the same at every event and feeds into global rankings and a season-ending world championship. (hyrox.com) Hyrox is also building a gym network around that race format. Its official Training Clubs program lets affiliated gyms market under the Hyrox name and gives them programming, class tutorials and marketing materials through a performance hub. (hyrox.com) That matters for operators because Hyrox is selling more than race entries. In December 2024, Hyrox 365 said it had reached 5,000 training clubs worldwide and reported annual growth of 260% for that affiliate business. (fitt.co) The event calendar is growing at the same time. Hyrox’s own site says the 2025 to 2026 season expanded to more than 100 events worldwide, and new North American stops include Denver on November 12 to 15, 2026, and Tampa on October 23 to 25, 2026. (trainrox.com) (hyrox.com 1) (hyrox.com 2) The United States push is especially visible in New York. Hyrox says its 2026 New York race will run across two weekends, May 28 to June 7, and bring 50,000 athletes, which it calls the largest Hyrox event in North American history. (hyrox.com) The pitch is different from a traditional obstacle race and easier to benchmark than a boutique fitness class. Hyrox gives every racer a timing chip, split times and comparable results across divisions and age groups, which turns regular gym training into a repeatable race score. (hyrox.com) It is also broadening beyond solo competition. Hyrox says doubles now account for more than half of competitors worldwide, and the company added a Pro Doubles category in January 2024 before creating a Pro Doubles Elite 15 world championship. (hyrox.com) The company was founded by Christian Toetzke and Moritz Fürste, and its history page says some events now draw more than 8,000 participants and 10,000 spectators. That scale helps explain why local gyms and creators are treating Hyrox less like a one-off race and more like a year-round training lane. (hyrox.com)
