Novo Nordisk Enters Telehealth Market
Novo Nordisk and Hims & Hers reached a deal to sell Wegovy and Ozempic directly via the telehealth platform, ending a legal dispute and offering official GLP-1 access at parity pricing. This partnership is expected to drive prescription volumes and expand access, especially to cost-sensitive and digitally-savvy consumers.
Novo Nordisk's distribution strategy now includes Hims & Hers, offering various doses of Ozempic and Wegovy directly to consumers. This follows legal action in February where Novo Nordisk alleged that Hims & Hers was marketing unapproved versions of these drugs, raising safety and intellectual property concerns. The lawsuit has been dropped as a result of the new agreement. This deal marks a shift for Hims & Hers, which had previously taken an adversarial stance against branded weight loss medicines, capitalizing on legal loopholes to market compounded GLP-1 drugs. Hims & Hers will no longer promote compounded versions of GLP-1 drugs, offering FDA-approved alternatives instead. Hims & Hers' business model includes connecting patients with licensed physicians through a subscription-based telehealth platform. The global telehealth market is projected to reach $191.88 billion in 2026 and $1402.1 billion by 2035, demonstrating a CAGR of 24.73%. Hims & Hers has experienced rapid growth, with 1.9 million subscribers and $872 million in revenue. The company's revenue reached $586.0 million in Q1 2025, a 111% year-over-year increase, with a subscriber base of 2.4 million. The GLP-1 market is also expected to grow significantly, with forecasts estimating it will reach $200 billion by 2030. Approximately 25 million Americans are projected to be on GLP-1 treatment by 2030, up from 10 million in 2025. Novo Nordisk’s CEO, Mike Doustdar, stated the agreement with Hims & Hers is a win for patients, expanding access to FDA-approved medicines.
