Aon Elevates New Analytics Head
Aon has promoted George Attard to Global Head of Analytics for its Reinsurance division. The high-level appointment underscores the growing strategic convergence of deep technical expertise and business strategy at the executive level in the insurance industry.
Attard's promotion aligns with his previous role as Chief Strategy Officer for Reinsurance Solutions, a position he has held since July 2025. Before that, he served as CEO of Reinsurance for the Asia Pacific region, culminating over 17 years of experience in various senior leadership roles within the company. His deep actuarial expertise is central to his expanded responsibilities. He now leads a global team of more than 1,000 analytics specialists. This group is tasked with accelerating the development of Aon's reinsurance analytics capabilities to help insurers optimize capital and navigate market volatility. The move underscores Aon's focus on integrating its data, technology, and talent to advance its innovation roadmap. A key area of focus will be Aon's proprietary catastrophe modeling platform, ELEMENTS. Aon's Impact Forecasting team develops models on this platform, which now includes over 135 probabilistic and scenario models covering 12 perils in nearly 90 territories. The firm is also committed to open-source modeling, leveraging the Oasis Loss Modelling Framework to enhance transparency and customization for clients. This investment in analytics is evident in the 2025 launch of Aon's Risk Analytics Platform, which provides clients with integrated hazard, exposure, and loss data through a single interface. The firm is also rolling out next-generation underwriting and portfolio analytics tools. These tools are designed to help clients better understand and manage complex risks, such as the increasing frequency and severity of Severe Convective Storms, which caused over $58 billion in insured losses in the U.S. in 2023. The appointment is part of a broader strategy to seamlessly deliver solutions across Aon's Commercial Risk and Reinsurance divisions under its "Risk Capital" structure. Paul Shedden remains the Global Head of Advanced Risk Analytics for all of Aon's solution lines and will work closely with Attard to drive innovation. This leadership structure aims to combine strategic vision with deep technical expertise to address evolving client needs in a volatile market.
