Chevrolet Unveils 2026 Chevelle SS Revival

Chevrolet unveiled the 2026 Chevelle SS, a modern interpretation of the iconic muscle car featuring classic styling cues combined with advanced performance technology. The revival aims to capture both nostalgia for the original and cutting-edge appeal for contemporary performance car buyers.

- The vehicle is not a Chevrolet product but a custom creation by Trans Am Worldwide, a Florida-based company known for building modern versions of classic muscle cars. - This modern interpretation, named the 70/SS, is built on the platform of a contemporary Chevrolet Camaro, with all-new carbon fiber body panels that are longer and wider to recreate the 1970 Chevelle's proportions. - Powertrain options are extensive, starting with a 450 horsepower LT1 V8 engine and going up to a 1,500 horsepower twin-turbo 454 V8. - The interior is customized to evoke the original's feel, featuring retro-style gauges and a classic horseshoe shifter. - The original 1970 Chevelle SS is iconic from the muscle car era, most notably the LS6 version with its 454 cubic-inch V8 engine that was factory-rated at 450 horsepower. - Pricing for the Trans Am Worldwide 70/SS begins at approximately $180,000 and can exceed $300,000 depending on the engine and other selected options. - The creation of the 70/SS was a personal project for Trans Am Worldwide's co-founder, Tod Warmack, whose mother owned a 1970 Chevelle. - Each vehicle takes around 1,400 hours to complete and can be ordered with a removable hardtop.
