Mizuno Drops New Wave Prophecy Shoe

Mizuno has released its Wave Prophecy Strap 2 in three bold new colorways. The shoe is designed for runners and cross-trainers, featuring a distinctive strap system and the brand's signature maximum-cushioning midsole technology.

The Wave Prophecy line is the pinnacle of Mizuno's signature "Wave" technology, which first debuted in 1997. Unlike foam or air-based cushioning, the mechanical Wave Plate disperses impact, providing both stability and cushioning simultaneously. The Prophecy series utilizes the most advanced version of this tech, the full-length "Infinity Wave" plate. This structure, featuring two parallel plates connected by support pillars, is designed to deliver maximum shock absorption and durability, making it particularly suitable for runners with heavier builds seeking a high level of protection. The original Wave Prophecy launched in 2011 as the brand's premium, most expensive running shoe, a bold move during a trend of minimalist footwear. Its radical, mechanical look was the result of nearly a decade of development aimed at creating a full-length mechanical midsole. The new Strap 2 version's upper is a departure from traditional running shoe construction, drawing inspiration from the fit of track and field sprint spikes. This design focuses on a secure, locked-in feel and high breathability, aiming to translate the performance principles of sprinting for everyday urban use. Beyond its performance running roots, the distinctive Wave Prophecy sole has been adopted by the fashion world. Mizuno has released hybrid models like the Wave Prophecy Moc, which combines the futuristic sole with a traditional leather moccasin upper, highlighting the design's versatility.
