Ozzy gets lifetime Brit Award with all-star tribute

Ozzy Osbourne will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2026 Brit Awards with an all-star tribute band featuring Robbie Williams, Zakk Wylde, and Metallica's Robert Trujillo performing live. The ceremony recognizes Ozzy's enduring influence on heavy metal and celebrates a career that shaped generations of musicians.

This posthumous honor caps a career that, despite defining a genre and selling over 100 million albums, was never recognized with a competitive Brit Award for Osbourne or his band Black Sabbath. The "Prince of Darkness" did, however, co-host the awards ceremony with his family—Sharon, Kelly, and Jack—back in 2008. The tribute performance was curated by Osbourne's wife, Sharon, and will feature a special arrangement of his 1991 solo hit "No More Tears." The choice of Robbie Williams as frontman was a personal invitation from Sharon, as the pop superstar is a long-time friend of the Osbourne family. Guitarist Zakk Wylde's connection to Ozzy runs deep; he first joined Osbourne's band in 1987 and was a key co-writer on albums like "No More Tears." Wylde, who refers to Ozzy as an "older brother" figure, is also the godfather to one of Osbourne's sons. Bassist Robert Trujillo, now with Metallica, also has a long history with Ozzy, having been a member of his band in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Trujillo first met Ozzy in 1991 when his former band, Infectious Grooves, was recording in the same studio where Osbourne was making the "No More Tears" album. This Lifetime Achievement Award follows Osbourne's passing in July 2025 at the age of 76. He had battled numerous health issues for years, including a 2019 fall that required extensive spinal surgery and a public diagnosis of Parkinson's disease in 2020.
