McDonald's brings back Snack Wrap

McDonald's is leaning into value and chicken — the company is expanding a 'McValue' menu (10 items) and explicitly plans to bring the Snack Wrap back as part of that push. (Reports outline a new McValue menu with 10 items and say Snack Wraps are returning as part of the strategy) (inkl.com) (wchstv.com).

McDonald’s is doing something it usually avoids: bringing back a retired menu item that people kept asking for, year after year. The Snack Wrap returned to United States restaurants on July 10, 2025, and now sits inside a much bigger push built around cheap meals and chicken. (corporate.mcdonalds.com) That push got another upgrade on April 2, 2026, when McDonald’s USA said its McValue lineup would expand with an Under $3 Menu and a $4 Breakfast Meal Deal. The company said the Under $3 Menu will offer at least 10 items across the day, from breakfast sandwiches to fries and burgers. (corporate.mcdonalds.com) The timing is not random. McDonald’s said in its February 11, 2026 earnings release that its “value leadership is working,” after global comparable sales rose 5.7% in the fourth quarter of 2025 and loyalty sales reached nearly $37 billion for the full year. (corporate.mcdonalds.com) Fast-food chains usually reach for one of two levers when customers get more careful with money: lower the price, or sell more chicken. McDonald’s is now pulling both levers at once, pairing low-priced menu items with a product that uses a smaller tortilla and a chicken strip instead of a full sandwich build. (corporate.mcdonalds.com) (mcdonalds.com) That helps explain why the Snack Wrap matters more than its size suggests. A wrap is easier to slot between fries, nuggets, and full sandwiches, so it works as a cheaper add-on, a lighter lunch, or an app giveaway without changing the whole kitchen. (mcdonalds.com 1) (mcdonalds.com 2) McDonald’s is also keeping the offer simple on purpose. News reports on the April 21, 2026 launch say the new McValue menu will center on 10 items under $3, plus breakfast and lunch-or-dinner bundles, instead of a maze of rotating discounts that vary too much by store. (nbcchicago.com) (usatoday.com) The company has been moving in this direction for months. On June 3, 2025, McDonald’s USA publicly confirmed the Snack Wrap comeback with a two-word statement from President Joe Erlinger: “It’s back,” followed by the date “7.10.25.” (corporate.mcdonalds.com) By April 2026, the wrap is no longer just a nostalgia play. McDonald’s own menu pages now show two permanent versions, Ranch Snack Wrap and Spicy Snack Wrap, and the main United States homepage is using a free Snack Wrap app offer to pull in new users. (mcdonalds.com 1) (mcdonalds.com 2) That app angle matters because McDonald’s is trying to make value feel personal instead of universal. The company’s deals page still layers app-only offers like Buy One, Add One for $1 on top of the broader McValue platform, which lets McDonald’s advertise low prices nationally while still nudging customers into digital ordering. (mcdonalds.com) (corporate.mcdonalds.com) There is also a defensive reason for all this. McDonald’s spent much of the past two years answering criticism that its prices had drifted too high for the chain that built its reputation on cheap, familiar meals, and the new Under $3 Menu is a direct answer to that complaint. (today.com) (foxbusiness.com) So the return of the Snack Wrap is not really a one-item story. It is McDonald’s saying that in 2026 it wants to win with small checks, simple choices, and chicken people can hold in one hand. (corporate.mcdonalds.com) (mcdonalds.com) If that formula keeps working, the Snack Wrap comeback will look less like fan service and more like a template. The company’s latest results already show stronger traffic and affordability scores, and McDonald’s is now building a national menu around exactly those two ideas. (corporate.mcdonalds.com)
