The Michelin Guide has published its first Philippines selection, giving Manila, its nearby cities and Cebu a place in the guide’s 2026 edition. (guide.michelin.com) The guide announced the inaugural list on October 30, 2025, at the Manila Marriott Hotel in Newport World Resorts. The 2026 selection covers 108 establishments across Manila and Environs and Cebu. (guide.michelin.com) Helm in Makati received two Michelin stars, the only restaurant in the country to get that rating in the first edition. Eight restaurants received one star: Asador Alfonso, Celera, Gallery by Chele, Hapag, Inatô, Kása Palma, Linamnam and Toyo Eatery. (guide.michelin.com) The same debut edition gave 25 restaurants Bib Gourmand awards for strong cooking at more moderate prices, with 19 in Manila and Environs and six in Cebu. Michelin also listed 74 more restaurants as Michelin Selected. (guide.michelin.com) Michelin began its Philippines coverage in February 2025, saying inspectors would focus on Metro Manila, Cebu, and nearby destinations including Pampanga, Tagaytay and Cavite. The first list arrived eight months later. (guide.michelin.com) That geography helps explain the results. The starred restaurants are concentrated in Makati, Taguig, Cavite and Cebu, while the broader Bib Gourmand and Selected lists stretch across more of Metro Manila and Cebu. (guide.michelin.com) Michelin said its inspectors were tracking a dining scene shaped by regional Filipino cooking, younger chefs and international influences. In its launch announcement, the guide said Manila showed chefs “redefining Filipino cuisine,” while Cebu offered a wide range of dining tied to tourism and hospitality. (guide.michelin.com) The first edition also went beyond stars. Michelin awarded one Green Star for sustainability and handed out special awards for young chef, service and exceptional cocktails. (guide.michelin.com) For diners, the debut creates a new shorthand: stars for top-tier kitchens, Bib Gourmand for value, and Selected for restaurants Michelin inspectors want on the map. For Philippine restaurants, the next test is whether this first list becomes an annual fixture that spreads beyond Manila and Cebu. (guide.michelin.com)
