Michelin eyes Mexico, Great Lakes

Michelin is widening its map in two directions at once: Mexico’s 2026 guide ceremony is moving to Guadalajara, and a new Great Lakes edition will debut in 2027. (excelsior.com.mx, guide.michelin.com) In Mexico, Guadalajara will host the 2026 Michelin Selection Ceremony on May 20, 2026, after the event had been held in Mexico City through 2025. Michelin and its local partners also said Jalisco, Puebla and Yucatán are joining the Mexico guide this year. (excelsior.com.mx, guide.michelin.com) That brings Michelin’s Mexico coverage to nine destinations: Mexico City, Oaxaca, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Quintana Roo, Nuevo León, plus the three new additions. Michelin’s Mexico guide launched in 2024, after Brazil in 2015 and Argentina in 2023 became the earlier Latin American entries. The first selection will be revealed in 2027, and the guide will cover Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Minneapolis and Pittsburgh. Over the last year, Michelin has also announced or released guides for Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, the American South and the American Southwest. Cincinnati was left out of the Great Lakes launch, even as Cleveland became the first Ohio city in Michelin’s ratings system. In Detroit’s case, a USA Today report said the inaugural Great Lakes guide would focus on the area served by Visit Detroit, and Ann Arbor would not be included.
