F1 qualifying format to be overhauled for 2026

The new power units feature a radical 50/50 split between the internal combustion engine and electrical power, with the MGU-K's output soaring by nearly 300% from 120kW to 350kW. This massive increase in hybrid reliance is the primary driver for the strategic rethink of a qualifying lap, as deploying that energy effectively is paramount.
