TECNO to Unveil AI-Powered Smartphone Series
Tech brand TECNO is set to unveil its new flagship CAMON 50 smartphone series at MWC 2026 in Barcelona. The new line will reportedly be headlined by advanced imaging and AI features, part of a broader push by the company to build out an ecosystem of AI-integrated products.
The CAMON line, first launched in 2015, has consistently been TECNO's platform for camera-centric innovation in the budget-friendly smartphone segment. Early models like the CAMON C5 and C8 focused on improving low-light performance, a common weakness in affordable phones at the time. This MWC launch follows an established pattern for the company. At MWC 2025, TECNO introduced the CAMON 40 series, which also centered on AI-powered photography with features like an "AI-One-Tap FlashSnap" and a 360° AI Call Assistant. The company's strategy revolves around what it calls "Practical AI," focusing on tangible uses for consumers in emerging markets. Its AI assistant, Ella, processed over 500 million user requests in 2025, with a focus on local language support like Hausa and improved recognition for various accents. The CAMON 50 series will pair Sony camera hardware with a dedicated AI computing architecture. Specific features being promoted include "Super-Zoom FlashSnap" for capturing high-speed action without shutter lag and "AI Auto Zoom" for intelligently framing subjects. The phones are expected to run on MediaTek's G200 chipset. Beyond the phone, TECNO is expanding its interconnected ecosystem called "OneLeap". The MWC presentation will also showcase updated MEGABOOK laptops and other AI-enhanced smart wearables. In a new move to enter the premium space, TECNO is also announcing a strategic partnership with Tonino Lamborghini. The collaboration will produce co-branded devices, including a gaming mini-PC and a limited edition smartphone. This focus on AI and an expanded product line comes as TECNO continues to see double-digit annual growth, solidifying its strong market share in regions like Africa and the Middle East. Alongside the CAMON 50, TECNO is also demonstrating a new modular smartphone concept at MWC 2026. This conceptual device uses magnetic attachments to add hardware capabilities, signaling the company's exploration of future form factors.
