The rise of AI-powered crypto scams highlights a growing trend; in 2023, losses from crypto scams totaled $3.94 billion globally. This represents a significant increase from $2.9 billion in 2022, demonstrating the escalating threat. Gemini, the AI model at the center of the exploitation, was launched by Google in December 2023, designed to compete with OpenAI's GPT models. Its ability to generate realistic text and engage in conversations makes it a powerful tool, but also a target for malicious actors.
