Two game rumors surface

Rumors say Epic Games is developing a Disney-branded extraction shooter loosely compared to ARC Raiders and is targeting a November 2026 release window. (x.com) Separately, the studio behind Ghostrunner is reported to be making a soulslike called Valor Mortis aimed at Fall 2026. (x.com)

Two separate game projects moved into clearer view this week: a report says Epic Games is targeting November 2026 for a Disney-branded extraction shooter, while One More Level publicly set Valor Mortis for Fall 2026. (insider-gaming.com) (rpgsite.net) The Epic project is still unannounced. Insider Gaming said, citing a Bloomberg report and four current and former Epic employees, that the game is planned as an extraction shooter in the mold of ARC Raiders, with Disney characters fighting to an extraction point. (insider-gaming.com) Epic and Disney already have a formal games partnership behind that report. Disney said on February 7, 2024 that it would invest $1.5 billion for an equity stake in Epic and work on an “all-new games and entertainment universe” connected to Fortnite and powered by Unreal Engine. (thewaltdisneycompany.com) That matters because the Disney-Epic deal was pitched as more than another skin bundle inside Fortnite. Disney said the project would let players “play, watch, shop and engage” with Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar and other brands inside a persistent universe linked to Fortnite. (thewaltdisneycompany.com) An extraction shooter is a multiplayer format built around entering a map, collecting gear or objectives, and escaping alive with the loot. ARC Raiders, the comparison in the report, is one of the genre’s better-known upcoming examples and is described by its publisher as a multiplayer extraction adventure. (insider-gaming.com) The second project is less rumor than rollout. One More Level, the Kraków studio behind Ghostrunner and Ghostrunner 2, says on its own site that it is making Valor Mortis, a first-person soulslike, and RPG Site reported on April 9 that the game is due in Fall 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and personal computer through Steam. (omlgames.com) (rpgsite.net) A soulslike usually means deliberate melee combat, punishing deaths, and a heavy emphasis on timing dodges and parries. Valor Mortis applies that structure to a first-person view, with a rapier, pistols, wall-running, a grapple hook, and supernatural powers in a plague-stricken version of Napoleonic Europe. (store.steampowered.com) (rpgsite.net) One More Level has been talking about the project for months, and the latest beat was public. The studio’s Steam page lists Valor Mortis for 2026, and a Triple-i Initiative trailer published on April 9 showed new environments, a boss fight, and parkour before reaffirming the Fall 2026 window. (store.steampowered.com) (youtube.com) The split between the two stories is the key detail. Valor Mortis now has official trailers, store pages, and platform targets; the Disney extraction shooter still sits at the report stage, attached to Epic’s broader Disney plan but not yet announced by either company.
