One More Level has put a Fall 2026 release window on *Valor Mortis*, its first new game since *Ghostrunner 2*, and showed fresh gameplay at the Triple-i Initiative showcase on April 9. (gematsu.com) The game is headed to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and personal computers through Steam, with publisher Lyrical Games backing the release. Steam’s store page lists it as a single-player game. (store.steampowered.com) One More Level describes it as a first-person action “soulslike,” a style built around hard fights, careful timing, and repeated deaths that send players back to checkpoints to try again. The studio’s official site says players control a dead soldier from Napoleon’s army who returns with supernatural powers. (omlgames.com) The new trailer says the setting is a supernatural version of the Napoleonic Wars, the early-1800s conflicts tied to French ruler Napoleon Bonaparte. It also shows a new weapon, new areas, a new boss, and movement tools including parkour. (ign.com) That mix is the clearest clue to what One More Level is selling here: the punishing combat associated with soulslikes, but through the first-person camera and speed-focused movement the studio used in *Ghostrunner*. The official website says levels are “Metroidvania-inspired,” meaning larger maps that open up as players gain new ways to move and fight. (valormortis.game) The studio has been workshopping that formula in public for months. A December 21, 2025 developer update on Steam said thousands of players joined an earlier playtest and that the team was reworking combat after feedback about first-person fighting. (steamcommunity.com) One More Level is based in Kraków, Poland, and is best known for the *Ghostrunner* games, fast first-person action titles released by 505 Games in 2020 and 2023. *Valor Mortis* is the team’s next attempt to extend that first-person melee design into a slower, heavier action role-playing game structure. (omlgames.com) The release window also gives the game a longer runway than many April showcase reveals. Four days after the trailer, there is still no exact date on the official site or Steam page, only the Fall 2026 target. (store.steampowered.com)
