New NYC Bodyweight Circuit Class

NYC Parks is hosting a free Bodyweight Circuit Training class *tonight* (March 10, 6:15–7:15 p.m.) [https://www.nycgovparks.org/events/2026/03/10/bodyweight-circuit-training2]. The class focuses on functional, everyday movement and overall strength, and is open to all fitness levels. It's a great way to get a workout in using just your body weight.

Bodyweight circuit training uses your own weight for resistance, eliminating the need for equipment. This makes it accessible and adaptable to any fitness level. Benefits include improved cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, and endurance. Examples of bodyweight exercises include push-ups, squats, lunges, and planks. Circuit training involves performing these exercises back-to-back with minimal rest. This type of training is time-efficient and can burn major calories. NYC Parks has a long history of promoting fitness and recreation. Many current recreation centers were originally bathhouses built in the early 20th century. These bathhouses aimed to improve public hygiene and provide recreational opportunities for working-class communities. The NYC Parks Department offers various free fitness programs, including Shape Up NYC. These programs provide accessible fitness opportunities across the five boroughs. In 2024, NYC Parks' Recreation unit served nearly 50,000 New Yorkers through 2,724 distinct programs.
