WoW Midnight Expansion Live
World of Warcraft's "Midnight" expansion is now live, launching a major new chapter in the Worldsoul Saga and introducing the Haranir Allied Race. The update brings the first major overhaul to Silvermoon City in 20 years, making the iconic city "perfect" by modern standards.
*Midnight* is the second chapter in the ambitious three-part Worldsoul Saga, a narrative arc designed to cap off the first 20 years of *World of Warcraft* storytelling and set the stage for its future. This saga began with *The War Within* (2024) and will conclude with *The Last Titan*. The expansion's central conflict revolves around the void entity Xal'atath, the Harbinger, who is leading an invasion of the blood elves' ancestral homeland, Quel'Thalas. Her primary objective is to corrupt the Sunwell, a fountain of immense magical power, and plunge the world of Azeroth into darkness. The update to Silvermoon City is its first significant overhaul since the city's partial destruction during the Third War at the hands of Arthas and the Scourge. For nearly two decades, the western half of the city has remained in ruins, a scar left by the devastating march that nearly wiped out the high elf population. The new Haranir Allied Race are ancient, reclusive guardians of the World Tree roots who reside in a bioluminescent jungle called Harandar. Forced from their isolation by the Void invasion, they possess unique nature-based abilities, including shapeshifting into large quilled bats and using the root network to travel. Alongside the campaign, *Midnight* introduces a player housing system, a new 40 vs. 40 battleground named Slayer's Rise, and eight new dungeons. Season 1 of the expansion is scheduled to begin on March 17, opening up the first two of three new raids.
