Versace and Onitsuka Tiger have launched a sneaker capsule that puts Versace hardware and finish work onto Onitsuka Tiger’s TAI-CHI Sakura, with pairs now listed online and shipping from April 2. (versace.com) The collaboration was first shown on September 26, 2025, during Versace’s Spring Summer 2026 presentation in Milan. Onitsuka Tiger said the project was built around its TAI-CHI model and made at the brand’s own factory in Sanin Tottori, Japan, using selected Italian materials. (onitsukatiger.com) Versace’s product pages describe multiple versions of the shoe, including suede and nappa leather pairs, with washed uppers for an aged effect. The details include double stitching on the Onitsuka Tiger stripes and Medusa hardware on the tongue. (versace.com) The release also sits inside a larger reset at Versace. Onitsuka Tiger’s announcement said the capsule formed part of Dario Vitale’s debut collection for the house, tying a Japanese sportswear label to Versace’s first Spring Summer outing under its new chief creative officer. (onitsukatiger.com) Onitsuka Tiger has spent the past few years pushing deeper into fashion through its “Nippon Made” line and runway presentations, while Versace has leaned on accessories and footwear to extend its reach beyond ready-to-wear. This capsule joins those strategies in one product: a heritage low-top sneaker recast as a luxury item. (onitsukatiger.com, versace.com) The shoes are not the only pieces in the project. Onitsuka Tiger said the Milan presentation also included collaboration loafers made in Italy, and eight looks in total were shown on the runway. (onitsukatiger.com) Versace’s campaign frames the partnership around “duality” and movement, but the concrete pitch is craftsmanship across two countries: Japanese production in Tottori and Italian leather and branding codes. The retail pages repeat that mix across the men’s and women’s listings. (versace.com, versace.com) For shoppers, the remaining unknowns are narrow ones. Onitsuka Tiger said in its original announcement that prices, store lists and purchase details would be released later, and Versace’s site now shows the collection live online as the rollout moves from runway teaser to retail drop.
