Adebayo Drops 83!

Bam Adebayo just dropped 83 points for the Miami Heat against the Wizards, making NBA history ‘It's Wilt, me, then Kobe’—Adebayo Drops 83 in Historic Night. He's now second all-time for single-game scoring, behind Wilt Chamberlain.

Adebayo's 83 points came in a 150-129 victory over the Washington Wizards. He shot 20-of-43 from the field, 7-of-22 from three-point range, and set a new NBA record by making 36 of his 43 free-throw attempts. Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra admitted the team started thinking about chasing the record once Adebayo passed 50 points. Spoelstra said it was an "absolutely surreal night". He ultimately pulled Adebayo from the game with 1:08 remaining. Adebayo surpassed Kobe Bryant's 81-point game, which had stood as the second-highest single-game total for two decades. After the game, Adebayo posted on Instagram: "Wilt. Me. Kobe". He told reporters, "It sounds crazy". Several NBA stars reacted to Adebayo's performance, including LeBron James, who posted "BAM BAM BAM" on X. Kevin Durant expressed disbelief, noting the stamina required to take and make so many shots. Adebayo's historic night was witnessed courtside by WNBA star A'ja Wilson. Adebayo credited Wilson's "behind-the-scenes workouts and conversations" as motivation. He said having her there made the night even more special.
