A physical Nintendo Switch 2 copy of Borderlands 4 has reportedly surfaced online months after the port was delayed and then put on pause. (thegamer.com) The report traces to Reddit user Veloxplayer098, who posted photos over the weekend of a boxed Switch 2 copy bought on Vinted. The seller allegedly said the copy had been found at a flea market. (thegamer.com) The photos show a case, a card, and packaging details that match Nintendo Switch 2 game-key cards. Nintendo says those cards do not hold the full game and instead act as a license to download it. (thegamer.com) (nintendo.com) That detail explains why the find does not mean the Switch 2 version is secretly on sale. If the download is not live on Nintendo’s servers, a game-key card is mostly packaging and an access key. (nintendo.com) (nintendolife.com) Borderlands 4 had been scheduled to reach Switch 2 on October 3, 2025, after launching on other platforms on September 12, 2025. Gearbox then delayed the Switch 2 edition on September 23, 2025, saying it needed more development and polish. (opencritic.com) (rpgsite.net) By February 3, 2026, Take-Two said development on the Switch 2 version was on “pause,” and the game was removed from the company’s release schedule. Variety and IGN both reported the publisher said it was focusing on post-launch content and optimization instead. (variety.com) (ign.com) That makes the Vinted copy look less like a leak of a coming launch and more like leftover retail stock from before the delay. Several outlets said at least one other copy had also appeared through an unnamed Russian game store. (mynintendonews.com) (gonintendo.com) One extra wrinkle is the downloadable content slip reportedly packed inside the box. Nintendo Life said the code appeared to be dated for the October 2025 release window, and the buyer said it had already been redeemed. (nintendolife.com) Neither 2K, Gearbox, nor Nintendo had announced a new Switch 2 release date as of April 13, 2026. For now, the copy on Vinted looks like evidence that Borderlands 4 got as far as printed boxes and manufactured cards before the release fell apart. (thegamer.com) (ign.com)
