Smart Security System Debuts
The First Alert ProSeries PROA7-FA Wi-Fi Wireless Security System is now available, offering professional monitoring, DIY self-management, and AlarmNet integration. The system supports burglary intrusion alarms, fire alarms, and standalone cellular sensors for comprehensive smart home safety. AlarmClub Security is also launching new smart home automation products including smart door locks, light switches, and thermostats designed for easy integration.
The First Alert ProSeries system is part of a broader rebranding initiative by parent company Resideo, which has been transitioning some of its Honeywell Home products to the First Alert brand. This move leverages the strong consumer recognition of the First Alert name in home safety. The system itself is designed to be a highly scalable and professionally installed platform that also accommodates the growing DIY market. At its core, the system is a central hub with a 7-inch color touchscreen that can manage up to 250 security zones. It utilizes PROSiX-series encrypted wireless sensors for a high level of security. For those with existing systems, an optional takeover module allows for the integration of older, one-way wireless sensors from brands like Honeywell's 5800 series. The PROA7-FA model is the entry-level version of the ProSeries lineup and notably requires optional add-on modules for Wi-Fi and Z-Wave Plus connectivity. This modular design allows for customization but means that out of the box, it relies on a cellular communicator for professional monitoring services. Integration with AlarmNet serves as the backbone for professional security dealers, providing a cloud-based platform for remote programming, diagnostics, and account management. For the end-user, this translates to remote control and real-time alerts through the Total Connect 2.0 mobile app, once the system is equipped with the necessary communication modules. The accompanying launch of new smart home automation products by retailers like AlarmClub centers on the Z-Wave Plus protocol. This technology offers improved range, better battery life, and enhanced security for devices such as smart locks from brands like Kwikset, as well as thermostats and lighting controls. This allows homeowners to build a comprehensive and interconnected smart home ecosystem around their security panel.
