This preference has solidified, moving beyond a trend to an expectation, with 33% of European developers favoring an optional office they can use without any mandate to attend. React is the most in-demand frontend framework in Europe, appearing in about 52% of job offers, followed by Angular at 36% and Vue at 10%. However, framework preference varies by country; Angular demand is higher than React in Switzerland, France, Spain, and Italy, while Vue is the dominant framework in Belgium with 54% of frontend job listings. The most sought-after single skill is TypeScript, required in 67% of European remote frontend job postings. The average salary for a remote frontend developer in Europe is approximately €54,407, though this varies significantly by country and experience. For instance, the average in Germany is around €66,700 for mid-level roles, while in Poland, it's closer to €38,400. The cost-of-living difference between Eastern and Western Europe has created a stable 35-40% salary gap, making countries like Poland and Romania attractive for hiring. Countries like Spain, Portugal, and Germany have become major hubs for remote tech talent, bolstered by favorable digital nomad visas, strong tech ecosystems in cities like Berlin and Lisbon, and a deep talent pool. Bulgaria's software market includes 24,000 professionals across 400 companies, contributing to the growing Eastern European talent market. The adoption of AI is rapidly reshaping frontend roles, with 75.8% of developers now using AI tools to enhance their workflows. While AI is taking over many routine coding tasks, it is also increasing the demand for developers who can work with AI systems, focusing more on problem-solving and innovative thinking. Developers with verified AI skills can command an earnings premium of up to 25% over their non-AI counterparts.
