Netflix Star Opens Tribeca Gallery Restaurant
Chef London Chase just opened Seventy Seven Alley in NYC's Tribeca, a restaurant inspired by the neighborhood's gallery culture. The Netflix culinary star's concept blurs the lines between art and dining with a chef-driven menu and atmosphere designed around Tribeca's creative scene.
Seventy Seven Alley is located at 28 Cortlandt Alley inside the Walker Hotel Tribeca and officially opened on Friday, March 6. The intimate restaurant offers both à la carte dining and an eight-seat chef's counter for a closer view of Chef Chase and his team. Chef London Chase was a competitor on the Netflix culinary show "Next Gen Chef," where he made it to the semi-finals. Born in French Guiana and raised in London, his culinary training includes renowned kitchens like Le Gavroche in London, Orsa & Winston in Los Angeles, and New York's Essential by Christophe and Manhatta. The restaurant's design features low lighting and plush banquettes to create a focused, studio-like environment with Art Deco influences. Functioning as a revolving gallery, the dining room's art will change seasonally, starting with a collection curated by Chef Chase himself. Chase’s menu is built on a philosophy he calls “flavor architecture,” organizing dishes by the elemental taste profiles of heat, acid, salt, depth, and fat. This approach utilizes a binchotan grill for smoky flavors and blends global techniques with house-made ingredients. Signature dishes include a unique take on the New York classic chopped cheese, made with koji-aged wagyu, cooper cheese, and kirby kimchi. Other notable items are Viking Village Scallops, Mahi Mahi Ceviche, and Pork Belly Yakitori. The cocktail program, also designed by Chase, mirrors the food's flavor balance with creations like the "Fat Duck," made with bacon fat-washed whiskey.
