Aldi said it will remove 44 additional ingredients from its private-label food, vitamin and supplement products by December 31, 2027. (aldi.us) The company announced the change on April 22 from Batavia, Illinois, and said the rollout will happen through 2027. Aldi said prices will stay the same and packaging will be updated with new ingredient information. (aldi.us) The new restrictions cover select artificial preservatives, colors, flavors and sweeteners. Aldi said the expansion lifts its restricted-ingredient list from 13 items to 57. (aldi.us) Aldi said it first set these standards in 2015, when it removed certified synthetic colors, added monosodium glutamate and partially hydrogenated oils from all Aldi-exclusive brand food products. (aldi.us) The latest list includes potassium bromate, bromated flour, titanium dioxide, BHA, BHT, acesulfame K, neotame, butylparaben and several FD&C dyes, including Red No. 40 and Yellow No. 5. (aldi.us) Aldi said the ingredients will no longer be allowed in any private-label food product either as direct ingredients or inside composite ingredients. The policy also applies to Aldi-exclusive vitamin and supplement products. (aldi.us) Scott Patton, Aldi’s chief commercial officer, said the changes came “based directly on customer feedback” and were meant to give families “simpler ingredients” without changing value. (aldi.us) The move extends a long-running private-label strategy at Aldi, where exclusive brands make up most of the assortment and ingredient standards are set centrally across the chain’s U.S. business. (aldi.us 1) (aldi.us 2) By the end of 2027, Aldi says every Aldi-exclusive food, vitamin and supplement product will be free of all 57 restricted ingredients. (aldi.us)
