Health Tech Firm Launches White-Label AI Assistant
b.well Connected Health has unveiled bailey™, a ready-to-deploy, white-label AI health assistant. The product allows healthcare organizations to add a branded AI assistant to their own applications within weeks. The assistant is powered by b.well's patient data platform, aiming to help solve healthcare data fragmentation.
- The company's founder and CEO, Kristen Valdes, was motivated to start b.well after her daughter, Bailey, suffered a near-fatal medical error due to disconnected electronic health record systems. Valdes, a former United Healthcare executive, spent seven years navigating the fragmented healthcare system to get a proper diagnosis for her daughter's autoimmune disorder. - As of early 2024, b.well Connected Health had raised a total of $164 million in funding. This includes a $40 million Series C round led by Leavitt Equity Partners announced in February 2024. - The bailey™ assistant is built on the b.well Health AI SDK, the same infrastructure used by partners like Samsung and OpenAI to power their health AI experiences. The company also has partnerships with MedStar and Walgreens. - The problem of healthcare data fragmentation, which b.well aims to solve, is estimated to contribute to at least $200 billion in annual costs from duplicate services in the U.S. A 2023 survey found that 90% of healthcare leaders reported losing revenue due to inefficient data use. - Prior to founding b.well, Kristen Valdes was a Vice President at United Healthcare and was an executive at XLHealth, a Medicare Advantage plan provider that was acquired by United Health Group for $2.4 billion. - The competitive landscape for health data platforms includes companies like CareZone, Moxe Health, and Enli Health Intelligence, as well as the health record initiatives of large technology companies like Apple and Google.
