Kaprizov Breaks Wild Goals Record
Kirill Kaprizov broke Minnesota's all-time goals record, prompting congratulations from former record holder Marian Gaborik. The milestone caps an incredible season for the Wild star who continues to rewrite franchise history.
Kirill Kaprizov's record-breaking goal was his 220th for the Minnesota Wild, officially surpassing Marian Gaborik's previous franchise high of 219. The milestone was reached with an empty-net, backhanded goal from center ice against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Russian winger, nicknamed "Kirill the Thrill," has reached this milestone in significantly fewer games than Gaborik. Gaborik, the Wild's first-ever draft pick in 2000, played 502 games for the franchise to set the original record. This is not the first time Kaprizov has eclipsed Gaborik in the Wild's record books. In the 2021-22 season, he broke Gaborik's single-season records for both points and goals, finishing with 47 goals and 108 points. At 28 years old, Kaprizov also holds the franchise records for the longest point, goal, and assist streaks. He is the first player in Wild history to have multiple 40-goal seasons. The record-setting goal was Kaprizov's 35th of the current season. Teammate Matt Boldy, who is nearly four years younger, is already 6th on the Wild's all-time goal-scoring list with 137. In September 2025, Kaprizov signed a landmark eight-year, $136 million contract to remain with the Wild.
