Cognizant and Google Cloud Expand AI Partnership
Cognizant announced an expanded strategic partnership with Google Cloud to help enterprises operationalize agentic AI systems. Through its AI builder approach and proprietary tools built on Google Cloud, Cognizant aims to enable clients to translate AI strategy into deployed and governed systems at an enterprise scale.
- This expansion is part of a larger strategy that includes Cognizant's commitment to invest $1 billion in generative AI over three years. - A key component of the partnership is the use of Google's Vertex AI Agent Builder, a platform designed to create and manage multi-agent systems that can execute complex, multi-step tasks across different enterprise applications. - To scale delivery, Cognizant is establishing a dedicated Gemini Enterprise Center of Excellence and will use its own "Agent Development Lifecycle" (ADLC) to integrate AI into the entire development workflow. - This is not the first AI-focused collaboration between the two companies; in March 2024, they expanded their partnership to use Gemini for enhancing the software development lifecycle for developers. - As part of its "Synapse" initiative, Cognizant plans to train more than 70,000 of its associates on Google Cloud's AI offerings, aiming to upskill one million individuals globally by 2026. - In a previous application of Google's AI, Cognizant built assistants on Vertex AI using fine-tuned Gemini models for its quality auditors, reducing assessment preparation time from up to six hours to just one. - Cognizant's growth in the AI automation space is also fueled by acquisitions, such as the January 2024 purchase of Thirdera, an Elite ServiceNow partner, with the goal of building a combined $1 billion business focused on AI-driven automation. - The partnership has already produced specific solutions, including the "Cognizant Autonomous Customer Engagement" platform, which uses Google Cloud's AI to create autonomous agents for contact centers.
