Honey Dijon Jazz Fusion Album
Producer and DJ Honey Dijon has announced a new album titled *Nightlife*, enlisting collaborators including Rochelle Jordan, Madison McFerrin, Greentea Peng, Chlöe, Mahalia, and Bree Runway. The project promises to push boundaries, infusing jazz with elements of soul, R&B, and electronic music and marks her most ambitious crossover effort to date.
*Nightlife*, set for release on April 17th, marks Honey Dijon's third full-length album. The project follows her critically acclaimed 2022 album, *Black Girl Magic*, and her 2024 *DJ-Kicks* compilation. The album is described as a nostalgic nod to classic house, disco, and soulful club sounds, aiming to redefine the sound of club culture. Born and raised in Chicago, the birthplace of house music, Honey Dijon was immersed in the genre from a young age. Mentored by legendary figures like Derrick Carter, she developed a signature sound that blends Chicago house with New York's tribal and percussive influences. Her work is deeply rooted in celebrating Black and queer nightlife, viewing dancefloors as sacred spaces for joy and release. The list of collaborators on *Nightlife* brings a diverse range of modern R&B, soul, and electronic influences. Rochelle Jordan is known for her futuristic and soulful take on R&B, often incorporating UK garage and house. Madison McFerrin, daughter of vocalist Bobby McFerrin, blends a cappella, electronic pop, jazz, and soul in her work, with Questlove dubbing her early sound "soul-appella." Other featured artists include Greentea Peng, whose style is described as psychedelic R&B and neo-soul with influences from reggae and hip-hop. The album also includes contributions from pop and R&B singer Chlöe, British rapper Bree Runway, and neo-soul artist Mahalia, promising a wide sonic palette. Ahead of the album's release, Honey Dijon is curating a takeover of London's Tate Modern to celebrate underground club culture and LGBTQIA+ history. She will also embark on an intimate tour of small-capacity clubs in cities like London, Amsterdam, and Paris. While the album is a celebration of the dancefloor, Dijon's work often carries a deeper message. Her previous album, *Black Girl Magic*, was shaped by the events of 2020 and became a "love letter to love" and a call to stand up for one's beliefs. *Nightlife* continues her dedication to creating spaces of joy, freedom, and self-expression.
