Global Firms Form Tech Alliance
Fifteen leading technology companies from 10 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America have formed the Trusted Tech Alliance. The initiative, announced at the Munich Security Conference, aims to better serve global customers in a time of geopolitical division.
- The alliance is founded on five core principles: transparent corporate governance and ethical conduct; secure development with independent assessment; robust supply chain and security oversight; support for an open and resilient digital ecosystem; and adherence to the rule of law and data protection. - This initiative is a direct response to rising geopolitical fragmentation and the trend of "digital sovereignty," where nations aim for greater control over their own data and software, sometimes creating barriers to international trade and innovation. - Founding members include major players across the tech stack, such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft, Nokia, Ericsson, SAP, and Jio Platforms, among others. - The coalition covers the full technology landscape, from connectivity and cloud infrastructure to semiconductors, software, and AI. - Key executives have emphasized collaboration over nationality, with Ericsson CEO Börje Ekholm stating, "No single company or a country can build a secure and trusted digital stack alone." - Microsoft's Vice Chair and President, Brad Smith, noted that the alliance is built around verifiable standards that apply regardless of where technology is developed or deployed. - The alliance aims to work with governments and customers to shape future procurement standards and increase confidence in next-generation digital systems.
