Tech Vets Raise $34M for AI Governance

Former executives from CrowdStrike and SentinelOne have launched JetStream, a startup that raised $34 million to address the governance gap in enterprise AI. The company's focus on risk and compliance highlights a growing niche for consultants with backgrounds in process, systems, and operational controls.

The AI governance market is projected to grow from approximately $309 million in 2025 to over $4.8 billion by 2034, with a compound annual growth rate of over 35%. This growth is driven by the widespread enterprise adoption of AI and the increasing need for transparent and accountable decision-making frameworks. North America currently holds the largest market share, accounting for over 31% of the AI governance market in 2024. JetStream's CEO and co-founder, Raj Rajamani, brings a wealth of relevant experience to the AI governance challenge. He previously served as the Chief Product Officer for Data, Identity, Cloud, and Endpoint (DICE) at CrowdStrike. Before his tenure at CrowdStrike, Rajamani was the Chief Product Officer at SentinelOne, and has held leadership roles at Cylance, McAfee, and Marketo, giving him deep expertise in enterprise security and product strategy. The emergence of specialized firms like JetStream highlights a critical gap in the market. While large consulting firms are building AI practices, they often lack the deep, technical expertise required for operational AI governance. Conversely, many technology vendors offer point solutions that don't address the holistic process and control challenges that enterprises face, creating a demand for niche players with a blend of strategic, operational, and technical skills. A primary driver for the growth in AI governance solutions is the struggle enterprises face with "Shadow AI," where employees use AI tools without official oversight. This lack of visibility creates significant compliance and data security risks. Enterprises are also grappling with ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability in their AI models to comply with emerging regulations and maintain customer trust. JetStream's core offering, "AI Blueprints," is designed to provide real-time visibility into how AI systems operate within an enterprise. These blueprints map the relationships between AI agents, the data they access, the models they use, and the identities behind them. This focus on mapping and monitoring AI workflows directly addresses the operational control and compliance challenges that many organizations are struggling to manage.
