River Walk pub owners redevelop historic building

Waxy O’Connor’s Irish Pub owners plan to redevelop San Antonio’s historic Loan & Trust Building into a mixed-use complex.

The Loan & Trust Building, located at 205 Soledad Street, has been vacant for years and was once slated for a hotel. Its transformation into a mixed-use space could revitalize a key section of downtown. Waxy O’Connor’s owners, listed as applicants, are working with Clayton & Little Architects and Alamo Architects on the project. The development includes apartments, offices, and retail spaces. The Historic and Design Review Commission (HDRC) recently approved the project. This clears the way for the pub owners to move forward with their vision for the Loan & Trust Building.
