Tottenham In Relegation Crisis

Tottenham suffered their fifth consecutive defeat under Igor Tudor, losing to Crystal Palace with thousands of fans leaving before halftime. The atmosphere at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is described as one of "disillusionment and disbelief" as relegation fears deepen. Despite the crisis, Tudor insists he "believes more than before" in the club's survival chances.

Igor Tudor was appointed interim head coach on February 14, 2026, following the dismissal of Thomas Frank. Frank himself was only in the job for seven months, let go after a run of just two wins in 17 league matches that left the club five points above the relegation zone. The team's form has since deteriorated further; they are now on an 11-match winless streak in the Premier League, their worst start to a calendar year in 91 years. This run has left them sitting 16th in the table, a single point clear of the drop zone. This is the closest Spurs have come to relegation since the 1976-77 season, the last time the club dropped out of the top flight. On that occasion, they finished bottom of the First Division but managed to secure promotion the very next season. The crisis on the pitch follows significant changes off it. Long-serving chairman Daniel Levy recently stepped down after 25 years, a move that has reportedly created institutional instability within the club. Under Tudor, Spurs have lost all three of their matches, conceding nine goals in the process. The team's top scorer in the league this season is Richarlison, who has found the net just eight times. The road ahead offers little respite. Tottenham must face Atlético Madrid in the Champions League before returning to a daunting Premier League schedule that includes an away trip to Anfield to play Liverpool.
